Symco Weekender

illustration / merchandise design

Every second weekend in August, hot rodders from all over the Midwest gather in the little town of Symco, WI to step back in time.

It’s a rockabilly riot!

The Weekender is known for a lot of things – kustom hot rods, mini bike drag races, retro campers, pinup girls, live rockabilly bands, a smokin’ burnout contest, and vintage cars spitting towers of flame from huge tail pipes.

It’s also known for its kickass show merch, with new designs each year. From riffs on household automotive names to custom artwork built from scratch, there’s something for everyone (if you can score your favorite before they sell out).

Missed your chance to buy merch at the show? Don’t blow a gasket. Cruise over to the Symco webstore to see what’s in stock.

The town of Symco was once known as Union.

Jeff Butz Photography

In an effort to save Union’s historic town hall, a resident had it moved to his property on the banks of the Little Wolf River. Other old structures from all over the county soon followed. The historic collection was lovingly named Unionville.

These riverside buildings are filled with antiques, equipment, and advertising from a simpler time. The Union town hall became the Unionville Saloon. New additions like the grist mill & blacksmith shop were built from lumber cut from the grounds’ working saw mill. Oversized display barns feature dozens of running vintage tractors and some of the largest Fairbanks-Morse engines operating today. Overlooking it all is the bridge that once spanned the Little Wolf River on Hwy 22.
